Nice attack - On doit des égards aux vivants; on ne doit aux morts que la vérité.
Another day, another senseless
slaughter of innocent people, leaving hundreds more mutilated and bleeding in an
avenue of a European city famed for beauty, culture and espieglerie. In the
month of July, there has already been more than 35 attacks by Islamists causing
upwards of 600 deaths in over a dozen countries. The attacks are escalating
with alarming frequency. So much so that the Prime Minister of France, Manuel
Valls, responding to an attack on the citizens he professes to represent on
Bastille Day, said that France should learn to “live with terrorism”.
Society seems to have already learned
to live with it. After each attack, some even more brutal than that of Nice,
there will be the orgy of candles, music, hashtags, buildings lit up in
tri-colour, talk of ‘love not hatred’ etc. Fluffy, comforting things that will do less than zero to stop the next attack. Then the news cycle will move on and
everything will be back to normal. Until the sequel massacre. Toulouse, Charlie
Hebdo, Bataclan, Brussels, Magnanville, Orlando, Nice. What’s happening in the West is like 9/11 in instalment payments. And one can’t but feel that the final
deadline is just around the corner. The one thing that Western civilization doesn’t
seem to have is the confidence to talk seriously about, let along tackle, the
problem at hand, that of Islamism, which has been waging a war on it that it,
like the proverbial ostrich, seems determined not to notice.
Instead of telling its wounded,
terrified, mourning and grieving people to “vivre
avec le terrorisme”, in other words, to expect a 19 tonne truck to plow
through about 2km of people every now and then, what a government should be doing,
in fact, the chief point of having a government, is to do everything it can to
prevent such atrocities from killing and maiming its citizens. But most liberal
elitist media and leaders don’t even want to name the problem. Now Hollande, after so many horrific attacks
in so clustered a time producing so many dead and mutilated, has at last
realised what’s happening and stated what has been obvious to so many for so
long, that “the whole of France is under the threat of an Islamic terrorist
attack.”, something that Obama couldn’t bring himself to say even after the
horrors of Orlando, going so far as to actually redact and edit the 911 call
made by the killer Mateen to remove any reference to Islam or ISIS. Obama refuses yet again to link Islamism to the Nice attack. The French
authorities also saw fit to suppress reports that many of the victims in the
Bataclan massacre, which occurred in November 2015, were gruesomely tortured;
facts not made public until this week. These tortures includes gouging out
eyes, castrating victims and shoving their testicles in their mouths, evisceration
and genital mutilation of females.
At least Hollande has finally put his
fingers on it. Will he do anything about it is the next crucial thing. But
before the blood of the victims has been washed from the Promenade de Anglais,
The Guardian’s Philippe Marliere has published a piece titled ‘Hollande’s
response to the Nice massacre will please only the far right’. This tepid and unfortunately not untypical piece
talks the usual ‘liberal’ progressive apologia – that this sort of rhetoric
fans hatred, that it’s the fault of foreign intervention, lack of social
welfare, disenfranchisement; in short, it removes any agency on behalf of the
killer, peddles what Bertrand Russell termed ‘the superior virtue of the
oppressed’ and suggests that anything but Islamic ideology drove Mohamed Lahouaiej-Bouhlel,
shouting “Allahu akbar” to zig zag his cargo truck and kill families watching a
firework on the national day of France. This delusional narrative of
islamophobia and fear of the famous ‘back-lash’ that we never see after every
one of these attacks that the elitist liberals like to shove down our throats as
if the citizenry are a pack of rabid potential neo-Nazi’s shows how absolutely
disconnected they are and is creating an atmosphere so costive that no serious
conversation can even begin regarding how to tackle Islamic radicalisation. Like
Robespierre wrote:
“A sensibility that wails almost exclusively
over the enemies of liberty seems suspect to me. Stop shaking the tyrant's
bloody robe in my face, or I will believe that you wish to put Rome in chains.”
One of many, many possible examples
of this phenomenon: just weeks before the Orlando shooting, Farrokh
Sekaleshfar, a Shi’a Muslim Scholar, spoke at the Husseini Islamic Centre 30min
from the site of the slaughter, where he preached that what it means to do the
compassionate thing for homosexuals: “Death is the sentence. There’s nothing to
be embarrassed about this. Death is the sentence.” In fact, in 10 Islamic
countries, homosexuality carries the death penalty by law. Only when people dare
to draw the line between Islamic ideology and the crimes that is inspired by it
will there be the possibility of preventing such attacks from happening. When
will the government start looking into these Saudi funded mosques teaching
innocent young minds to hate the West, women, homosexuals and kafir? When will France reform its
prison system, known to be incubators for Islamic fundamentalists, including many
of those responsible for the major terrorism attacks in the West in 2016? These
things cannot begin unless the diagnosis can be formulated with the right
vocabulary. Given that the vast majority of victims of Islamic terrorism around
the world are Muslims, to call a spade a spade is anything but ‘racist’ or ‘bigoted’
or any of the other quips so casually thrown around by the regressive liberals, most of whom know very little about Islamic history or ideology, let alone ever reading any of the Koran or Hadith.
The historian Toynbee said: ‘Civilization
die from suicide, not by murder.’ One symptom rife in today’s Western
civilization is the tendency to be so tolerant that it will tolerate the
intolerable. I truly hope we won’t have to live with any more tragedies like
Nice as a matter of course; that France will not be in a permanent state of
emergency and that people will finally wake up and stand up for Liberté, égalité, fraternité. Because if
not, the inevitable result, as stated in the original declaration of Liberal principles, will be ou la mort.
